Blog 7: Music

One of my favorites musicians is German del sol, more known as Mantoi, Tristan Vela or Buskapalabras. He is a Chilean rapper, writer and beatmaker. He entered to the world of hip hop around 1999-2000, when he was around 15 years old, and three years later he started to create his firsts songs. After one year he made his first album named “Primer Tomo”  but it was only listened by his closer friends. After that he released several albums, but my favorite may be “Nosecuenta” because the letters of the songs are smart, and poetics and the beats are cool too. I like Mantoi because he is not just a rapper, he is also a writer, and you can evidence that in his songs. He talks about Chile, social issues, and human being’s problems and uses a lot of literature's reference in his songs. I also like his personality, of which none knows too much, because has never been too famous and in the few interviews that some people have made to him, he seems as a simple and shy person. Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies.

One of the things that I want to study more in deep is Latin American art. So maybe I could do a PhD about Latin American expressions of art and then complement it with a PhD about Latin American social and cultural anthropology, that way I can relate art with its context. But I´m not interested in traditional art that you can experience only at museums, I´m interested in popular art. And not only visual art, I think that music, literature, theater and comedy can be art too.   Thinking about the future is difficult so these are only ideas, and maybe they will change in the process of the career. But I´m sure that I don’t want to study only in Chile, I would prefer to do it in Peru, Colombia or Mexico, and obviously not in a distance program, I hate online classes. I would prefer a part time course, so I can have a job and be able to dedicate to do other things. Blog 5: My future job.

I haven´t thought about my future job. I think it is because since I started school all my ideas about the future has fell apart, everything has changed and I’m not sure about anything yet. Anyway, I don´t think I’ll do one thing for the rest of my life. I´m studying Anthropology and that means that work will never be the same, and that´s something good.  I don´t care if it is in or outdoor, I want to work with people and be useful, learn from them to be able to help with the things that I have learnt and the things that I will.  In my dreamer mind, I would love to contribute to change this strange world in the good way.  Traveling for me, is suuuper important, and not to enjoy it, but to learn from the different places, realities and people, and my dream is to do this in Latin American. But also, there are a loooot of other things that I hope I will do, like writing, have a restaurant, do art, music, and more, haha. Music and art are important to me, i think that if they...

Blog 4: My non-human best friend.

    Ying is a black and white dog, he is like 4 years old now, and he is huge, He's like 40-45 kilos. He looks scary because of his size but he is the sweetest dog in the earth. I found him and his two sisters on the street when in 2015, they were just babies. At that time, I used to pick cats and dogs of the streets, take them to the vet if they needed and then gave them in adoption. My parents started to get pissed after a while because the house was full of animals that they didn't want, so when I went home with three puppies they wanted to kill me, but I promised that I would found a home for each one of them. And I did, but Ying was adopted by an old man who couldn't take care of him anymore, so Ying came back to my house. My parents were like "Victoria you have to find him a new place, he is too big and our house is too small" and that was my purpose, but the days became weeks, and the weeks became months, and everyone fell in love with him because he has a ...

Blog 3: My favorite series.

 One of my favorite series is called Shameless, is a comedy and it take place in U.S.A but it is a remake of a British series called the same way.  It has 10 seasons and this year was supposed to came out the 11th, but coronavirus, haha. Every season has 10 or 12 episodes, and the first season was emitted in 2011.  First, I have to say that almost everything on this series is wrong, morally and ethically. It is about a "dysfunctional" family who lives in the downside of Chicago. The father's name is Frank, and he is an addict alcoholic with no sense of responsibility or parental care. But he is free, he doesn´t care anything or anyone. He is everything that you cannot imagine that someone can be. Most of the time i hate him, but other times i feel sorry for him. He is an interesting person. The mother's name is Monica, she is also a drug-addicted and is completely insane, even when she seems to be nice and sweet. Blog 2: My favorite concert.

One of my favorites concerts was in 2018. I was 18 years old and was coursing 4th grade at school. My bests friends and I went to watch this band called "Super Especial", it is a Chilean band that plays like pop rock. We met them because one of my teachers was part of it, he was the singer. And I didn´t like the band in the begging because I hated that teacher, but I had to admit that they had talent, and up to us, they sounded really good. We used to listen them at school all the time for years, but they were not very famous, so their first concert was really exciting. It took place in a sort of old house converted in a small pub near to Los Reyes park a Friday of June in the afternoon, and it was not like a big real concert. It was kind of weird now that I remember, but it was great, because the atmosphere of the event was crazy, it was a small place but it was crowded, I could barely breath that day, and one of the things that   I remember and why I liked that concert is t...

Blog 1: One of the countries i'd like to visit.

  I really hope my life is long enough that I don't have to choose just one country to visit, but now I have to, so I think I would choose China. At the moment it is one of the most powerful countries in the world, but that is not why im interested about it. I am fascinated by the history of this country and how the real Chinese society works. A while ago, a Chinese girl told me that she hated the country, and that made me very curious about it, because as a stranger I am not able to see for myself the great real problems such as inequality, vulnerability and all the social problems there. Last year we witnessed the protests in Hong Kong, and according to my friend that is just the tip of the iceberg. There is also a completely different way of living and understanding the world compared to the way we do it.
